As the school year grinds to a halt, Ajax Cape Town’s Community coaches hosted pupils from the Ottery Road Methodist Primary School at Ikamva.
The coaching clinic was arranged between the Community programs Riyaad Khan and Jason Cogill, an assistant at the school without the knowledge of the pupils. All they were told is that would be hosted for a coaching clinic.
As they pulled up in Ikamva’s parking area surprised pupils could not hide their excitement. Riyaad was there to greet them and welcomed the kids in the Ajax lounge. The pupil’s smiles lit the room as they tried to concentrate on the introduction of their coaches because some PSL arrived for breakfast.
Mfundo “Hadji” Shumana came over to greet the boys and told them to enjoy their stay at Ikamva.
Soon it was time to enter the dressing rooms where Riyaad and Fezile, a Community Coach gave them a brief talk about life choices and living a healthy life style, then it was time to go out to the training field set up by Jabu.
He explained the nature of the training and started the warm-up before putting the boys through their drills.
Jason Cogill said, “Our visit to Ikamva left all the boys smiling and many of them inspired. The professionalism of all the staff involved was also good to see.
The boys were also amazed by the quality and state-of-the-art facilities Ikamva offers.
