WESTERN CAPE – Crime prevention operations carried out by Operation Lockdown III and the Anti-Gang Unit separately led to the arrests of three suspects for possession of drugs on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.
At around 12:00, the police apprehended a 38-year-old male suspect at the corner of Beaufort and Voortrekker Road after he was found in possession of 200 mandrax tablets. He was detained at Goodwood SAPS and will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged. Further investigations led the members to Tienie Meyer Informal Settlement, Bellville around 13:30 in which they discovered 36 mandrax tablets and 13 sachets of tik in his residence resulting to the arrest of an 18-year-old male suspect. He will appear at Bellville Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
In another incident, members of Anti-Gang Unit followed up on information received about suspected drug activities in Thabo Mbeki Road, Langa. Upon arrival, a thorough search was conducted in which 200 mandrax tablets were discovered, and a 29-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of drugs. Once he has been charged, he will appear at Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court.
