The New Year, 2012 is upon us and with the transfer window open Ajax Cape Town’s no 3 goalkeeper will be joining Golden Arrows on loan for the remainder of the season.
Petim joins Muhsin Ertugral at Golden Arrows; Ertugral coached the Urban Warriors in 2006/ 2007 and for a short spell in 2009.
Competition for the goalkeepers berth in the starting line-up intensified with the arrival of Dutch international and ex-Liverpool keeper Sander Westerveld, since then the 26 year old Petim was kept out of the starting line-up by consistent performances by Westerveld and Sean Roberts.
Petim joined Ajax Cape Town as a junior player and rose through the ranks to the PSL side making his debut in the 2006/7 season.
During his time at Ajax Cape Town, Petim won numerous awards; the 2005 Metropolitan Premier Cup Champion, Metropolitan Premier Cup – Goalkeeper of the Tournament, 2007 Old Mutual Manguang Cup Champion, 2007 ABSA Cup Champion, 2008 Old Mutual Manguang Cup Champion and the 2008 Telkom Knockout Championship.
Ajax will look towards their Youth Development Academy for a replacement for Petim, a number of young goalkeepers have already put their hands up with good performances for the reserve and U19 Ajax Cape Town teams.
