Planned Electricity Supply Interruption Postponed

16 September 2026 by Con Tributor

The City advises residents in Muizenberg, Clovelly, Sun Valley and surrounding areas that the planned electricity supply interruption for infrastructure upgrades has been postponed until further notice. The City will advise residents when the work takes place, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.

The work will no longer be carried out on Saturday, 19 September 2026, and a new date will be communicated to residents in due course. View the area outage map.

The following areas would have been affected due to the scheduled outage for critical electricity upgrades:

  • Muizenberg
  • Clovelly
  • Sun Valley
  • Kalk Bay
  • Fish Hoek
  • Glencairn
  • Glen Marine
  • Glencairn Heights
  • Glen Ridge
  • Welcome Glen
  • Woodlands
  • Da Gama Park
  • Dido Valley
  • Bay View Village
  • Bayview Heights
  • Simon’s Town
  • Simon’s Kloof
  • Seaforth
  • Red Hill
  • Boulders
  • Middle Beach
  • Bellvue
  • Winford
  • Murdock Valley
  • Smitswinkel Bay
  • Cape Point
  • Noordhoek
  • Long beach
  • Ocean View
  • Soetwater
  • Kommetjie

The City’s Energy teams have proactively aligned two critical planned maintenance works as part of our infrastructure upkeep programme, including essential work on the high voltage network. This was done to minimise customer power disruption by initiating one planned outage rather than two separate outages for the planned works.

As a result, the previously scheduled work for Saturday, 19 September 2026, will no longer take place on that date, with a new date to be communicated to affected residents in due course, thereby reducing inconvenience while enabling the City to continue strengthening the resilience and reliability of its power system.
