Listen to the 59 second outrage from Reagen Allen:
Dear Editor
The DA in the Western Cape is appalled by the attempts of the ANC to gain political mileage from the highly sensitive disclosures relating to MEC Fritz.
The party’s attempt to politicise this matter is made clear in that it has gone back on its initial pledge to lay charges against the Premier. It now prefers to request advice from Lt Gen. Patekile.
We welcome the appointment of Advocate Jennifer Williams to conduct the investigation and trust that it will proceed in a fair and unprejudiced way. The Premier has stated clearly that should the independent counsel deem it appropriate to lay criminal charges, then the Premier will not hesitate to do so. Furthermore, when there are findings to discuss, the Premier will be invited to account for all decisions taken.
The ANC is displaying a clear disregard for the wellbeing and dignity of whistle-blowers. We appeal to the ANC to demonstrate a basic level of respect for human dignity and allow the investigation to run its course.
