President Ramaphosa calls for end to farm evictions

1 May 2024 by Alan

Thousands of people participated in a rally at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Workers’ Day. The rally was preceded by a march through Athlone.

Participants expressed solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom.

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the stadium. Among other things he called for an end to farm evictions.

“We want to ensure that workers who work on farms are not evicted on the whim of farmers,” he said.

Before the rally in the stadium people marched through the streets of Athlone expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine.
