16 September 2026 by Con Tributor

The City is inviting residents and interested parties to have their say on proposed upgrades to Voortrekker Road in Maitland. The proposal includes the upgrade and widening of Voortrekker Road between Fourth Avenue and Camp Road, aimed at improving the way people move through the area. From Tuesday, 15 September to Friday, 16 October 2026, members of the public can view the proposed designs and submit their comments, suggestions and recommendations for consideration.

We want to reduce congestion, improve public transport, make it safer and easier for people walking and cycling, and ensure that goods and services can move more efficiently. Ultimately, this project is about making everyday travel easier for our communities and to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
