Refuse collection delays, and temporary drop-off restrictions from 1 July 2022

The City of Cape Town regrets to inform residents that there will be further delays to refuse removal with effect from 1 July 2022. This is due to contract administrative processes which need to be concluded to activate implementation of the new and expanded contracts.

The areas affected are listed below and will receive service on Saturday, 2 July 2022, rather than Friday. Residents should please keep their refuse bins on their property until Saturday morning.

Drop-off restrictions

In addition to refuse collection delays which are due to contract administrative processes, the drop-off facilities will offer a restricted service with effect from 1 July 2022:

1. Mixed Waste and Builders Rubble: limited to one 1,5 ton load per client only at ALL sites (while there is bin capacity, then rubble must be disposed at landfill sites)

2. Garden refuse will only be accepted at the following sites: Kommetjie, Hout Bay, Mitchells Plain, Wynberg, Prince George Drive, Killarney, Tygerdal, Kraaifontein, Athlone and Gordons Bay

Drop-offs at Coastal Park and Vissershok are not affected by the restrictions mentioned above.

The City will continue to update residents around contingency plans as the situation unfolds.
