Road Resurfacing Under Way

16 October 2026 by Con Tributor

Road resurfacing and maintenance work at various locations within Paarden Eiland; Epping Industrial; Maitland; Kensington; Thornton and Langa

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is undertaking road resurfacing and maintenance work at various locations within Paarden Eiland; Epping Industrial; Maitland; Kensington; Thornton and Langa, starting this week until the end of 2026, weather permitting.

The work is planned to take place from Monday to Saturday, between 07:00 and 17:00.

‘These projects form part of the City’s ongoing road maintenance. Our teams are pushing hard to complete as much road resurfacing and repairs ahead of the end of the year, while we have this favourable weather. With this round of road works, we are focusing on a mix of industrial, commercial, and residential areas. The industrial and commercial nodes are key areas that need a lot of attention as these road networks serve many industries and carry large amounts of traffic, including heavy weight vehicles.

‘Our efforts in areas such as Paarden Eiland and Epping keeps industries in Cape Town moving smoothly,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Residents, businesses, and road users can expect some noise and temporary traffic disruptions during construction. Certain road sections will be fully closed, while others will be subject to half-width closures to allow traffic to pass where possible. Where full road closures are required, these are necessary on narrower road sections to allow the construction activities to be undertaken safely. These sections will be reopened to traffic after 17:00 each day.
