Ajax Cape Town is proud to announce that Sean Roberts has signed a new five year deal.
Roberts signed for Ajax in 2008 however he was unfortunate in that injuries blighted the start to his Ajax career, keeping him on the side-lines for the first 18 months. Despite being told that his football career was at its end Roberts worked hard behind the scenes with the help of the Ajax medical department and the Sports Science Institute and make a remarkable recovery.
Roberts made a remarkable start to the 2011/2012 season playing the first seven games, winning a few “Man of the Match” awards for his performances between the sticks.
Roberts said, “Five months ago I was told I would never kick a ball again… Today I signed a new contract with Ajax Cape Town… I guess adidas was right when they said, Impossible is Nothing!!!
In September 201,1 Sean received a call-up from Bafana Bafana ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against Niger at the Stade General Seyni Kountche De Niamey.
At the time Shooz Mekuto the Ajax PRO said, “Sean made a number of crucial saves against Santos in the Cape Derby and followed that with another impressive performance against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-final at the weekend, earning him the MTN8 “Man of the Match Award”.
Roberts worked hard at his game during his lay-off and his selection for Bafana Bafana ahead of their game against Niger is a just reward.”
