Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run and MTB events to be hosted on separate dates!

The organisers of the iconic Stellenbosch based Savanna Origin of Trails MTB and Trail Run Experience have announced that the events will boast separate dates in 2021 with the Trail Run Experience moving to 26 – 27 June, while the MTB Experience remains on 27 – 28 November.

“The COVID-19 restrictions limit the number of entries permitted at events,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the events. “Attempting to host both a Trail Run and MTB event on one day would place further restrictions on the number of entries permitted per event. The split will enable us to welcome more trail runners and more mountain bikers to the respective events. The split will also enable us to focus our full attention on the trail running experience in June and the mountain biking experience in November.”

“We are also very excited to announce that the majestic Blaauwklippen Wine Estate will be the home of the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Experience in June,” continues Meyer. “One of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, Blaauwklippen Wine Estate is a popular tourist destination that has iconic trails. We are proud to include these trails as part of our 2021 route. After each stage trail runners can relax and take in the beauty of this magnificent region. The well-known Blaauwklippen Market will also be in full swing on Saturday and Sunday. We remind entrants to please adhere to the COVID-19 regulations at all times whether competing or visiting the market. We look forward to welcoming trail runners to the start of the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Experience in June.”

Exciting Training Runs: To add to the excitement of a stand-a-lone event, the Savanna Origin of Trails Trail Run Experience will host two Training Runs in the build up to event day. These Training Runs will take place on Saturday 22 May at the Blaauwklippen Wine Estate and Saturday 12 June at Jonkershoek and will be limited to 100 runners per event.
