Darius van Niekerk, NSRI Mykonos station commander said on 21st May, 2009: “At 19h50 NSRI Mykonos were activated to assist the SA Police Services who had launched a search for a missing 10 year old female reported missing and suspected to be missing in the sea at Tabak Baai, North of Saldanha Bay.
NSRI Mykonos volunteers launched our rescue craft Gemini Rescuer II and NSRI volunteers responded to the scene by road to join members of the SA Police Services on the scene. A Police Port of Entry Security vessel was deployed to assist in the search.
Despite a full-scale sea and shore search no sign of the missing child has been found and the search was suspended late last night and was resumed by units from the SA Police Services today.”
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the child.
