Sensational award-winning cast, packed houses, standing ovations and rave reviews

MAMMA MIA! opened at Artscape in Cape Town on 3 September and audience responses are extraordinary, celebrating the popular musical’s fantastic cast, romantic story and the immortal hit music of ABBA. The show, produced by Showtime Management, runs at the Artscape until 11 October. There are two performances on the Heritage Day public holiday (24 September). Book now at Ticketmaster.co.za.

Television presenter, celebrity and MC Siv Ngesi was ecstatic after watching the production, saying, “Epic, epic, epic show!” Blogger Shaun Engel remarked: “The show is colourful, vibrant, quirky, witty and outright fabulous,” while Jade Samuels of All Access Entertainment says “I went in curious. Meagan Dill at Broadway World best sums up the show as “MAMMA MIA makes a triumphant return led by South Africa’s best.” With such a buzz building as the production gathers momentum, make sure you get your tickets now while still available. The show’s themes and tone – fun, friendship, romance and unforgettable music, all in the beautiful surroundings of a sun-drenched Greek island – simply don’t age, ensuring that MAMMA MIA! remains a favourite for musical theatre fans of all ages. Johannesburg audiences will soon get their chance to be reunited with the bubbly, beautiful characters at the heart of the story, Donna Sheridan and her daughter Sophie, as well as their funny, endearing friends and potential partners! The production will be staged at the Teatro at Montecasino from Friday, 16 October to Sunday, 22 November 2026
