Cape Town’s religious leaders have been paying their respects to the dead and injured of last night’s Planet Hollywood bombing.
Eleven leaders laid wreaths outside the restaurant, at the city’s waterfront complex, where a bomb killed one and injured twenty seven.
South African Security Minister Sydney Mufamadi says the bombing was probably linked to the U-S cruise-missile attacks.
Religious leaders showed a united front as they joined together to honour the victims of the Cape Town bombing.
Despite widespread suspicion that the bombing was perpetrated by Islamic extremists, both Islamic and Jewish leaders joined together in a show of solidarity.
The bombing has been linked to revenge attacks for America’s bombing of Sudan and Afghanistan last week.
The American attacks were condemned by the Islamic community and it is felt that some extremists may be planning to attack American targets in retaliation.
After the Planet Hollywood bombing, many tourists are scared.

The victims, many badly injured, are recovering in hospital. Some are able to recall what happened in the attack.

“I was actually on my way to the toilet and so I just reaching the foyer when the bomb went off. I wasn’t sure what had happened and then there was a lot of electrical shock as well and a lot of people lying on the floor. A lady next to me, her leg had been blown off. I’m lucky to have escaped with the comparatively minor injuries I have, to that some others have suffered”

The South African authorities claim that they are on the verge of a breakthrough in the race to catch the bombers.

The South African government says it has recently increased security at U-S offices and diplomatic installations but the restaurant may have been hit because it was a “soft target.”
F-B-I agents who have been investigating the blast in Nairobi were expected to arrive later on Wednesday.
