Ajax Cape Town’s coach Maarten Stekelenburg believes that his team can build on their winning performance against Bloemfontein Celtic.
The Ajax coach was in a positive mood at the post press conference after the Celtic game. He said, “I am happy with my teams performance against Celtic, they controlled the pace of the game and we took our chances.
The loss of Terror Fanteni’s services for the Celtic game allowed Billiat to play as the central striker. Billiat and Fanteni gives the team different options, Fanteni is a perfect target man and his presence allows the other players to play off him where as Billiat is more mobile, using his ability to get past his marker very well.
I always believed that my team is capable of playing a higher standard of football, despite the recent string of results and against Celtic they showed a glimpse of how well they can play. Last week, I said that the players need to believe in themselves, that they can do better and on Sunday they did.
We deserved the win against Celtic and now we need to build on that performance as we prepare for our next game against Golden Arrows on Saturday 17 December, 2011.”
