Geoff Stephens, NSRI Hout Bay station commander, said:
At 12h09, Monday, 25 January, NSRI Hout Bay and NSRI Bakoven duty crews were activated following reports of a male injured at Maori Bay, at the Bos 400 wreck, near to Llandudno.
NSRI Hout Bay launched sea rescue craft Nadine Gordimer and NSRI Bakoven launched the sea rescue craft Rotarian Schipper.
WC Government Health EMS were activated and dispatched an EMS ambulance to the NSRI Hout Bay sea rescue station.
WSAR (Wilderness Search and Rescue) were placed on alert.
While responding to the scene it was determined that a 19 year old male, from Paarl, sustained injuries reportedly after jumping into the sea from the Bos 400 wreck.
On arrival on the scene we found the teenager on the land side on the shoreline above the Bos 400 wreck.
An NSRI paramedic and NSRI medics were transferred from our sea rescue craft onto the shoreline and the teenager was medically treated for his injuries and in a stable condition he was secured into a Kendricks Extrication Device and our NSRI crew brought him down the slope to the shoreline where he was loaded onto an NSRI Croc.
NSRI rescue swimmers swam the Croc to the NSRI Bakoven sea rescue craft that had manoeuvred closer towards the shoreline to receive the patient.
He was loaded onto Rotarian Schipper and then further out to sea he was transferred from Rotarian Schipper onto the sea rescue craft Nadine Gordimer.
In the care of our NSRI paramedic he was transported aboard our sea rescue craft Nadine Gordimer to our NSRI Hout Bay sea rescue station.
The teenager was taken into the care of EMS paramedics and he has been transported to hospital by EMS ambulance in a stable condition for further medical care.
