Production by Tassyn Munro andThandiswa Qubude.
Thandiswa is a grade 9 learner at Kutliso Daniels school. Her story is about a scar she has from a mugging that happened at her local spaza shop. Thandiswa’s scar has now become a reason for people around her school and neighbourhood to gossip about her. They have made up rumours that her scar was in fact not from this mugging, but instead a scar from being beaten up by her boyfriend. The gossip has made Thandiswa feel lonely, as she does not feel welcome around the people who are telling these stories about her. She now not only has a physical scar, but an emotional one too.
