Today is the day to vote and take South Africa forward

4 November 2026 by Con Tributor

Statement by Geordin Hill-Lewis – Leader of the Democratic Alliance:

This morning, I cast my vote at Edgemead Primary School in Cape Town. I voted to take this great city forward for everyone.

Across South Africa, today we can bring working government to places that have been failed, and build on the progress in places where the DA already governs. We can vote for safer streets, reliable services and more opportunities for work.

To everyone voting DA for the first time I want to thank you for putting your trust in us. We will work every day to earn it. Wherever we govern, we will serve every resident, whoever they voted for.

In crucial contests across the country, this is a close, two-horse race between the DA and the ANC. Every DA vote strengthens our ability to win, form stable governments and stop the chaos.

But that opportunity depends on you showing up.

Today, every DA supporter must become a DA voter.

Do not assume that your town is safe, or that change will happen without you. The next five years will be decided by the people who vote today.

For towns and cities already at breaking point, this is the last chance to prevent another five years of decline. We cannot let this opportunity pass. Today, we have the power to stop the chaos and begin rebuilding.

Please go and vote. Encourage your family and friends to vote. Make sure the people you know who want a better future help choose it today.

South Africa can work for everyone. Today, vote to make it happen. Vote DA.
