30 March 2026 by Con Tributor

The 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, powered by BYD, promises an exciting lineup of events from Thursday, 9 April to Sunday, 12 April 2026. Highlights include the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon International Friendship Run, Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run, Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, and Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon – all made possible thanks to the valued support and guidance of the City of Cape Town.

The City of Cape Town plays a pivotal role in the success of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD, providing essential support that ensures a safe, well-organised, and world-class event. From facilitating road closures and traffic management to enabling access to iconic routes and public spaces, the City’s collaboration allows runners and spectators to enjoy a seamless race experience.

Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, says: “The City of Cape Town is a vital partner in making the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD the world-class event it is today. From ensuring safe and accessible routes to supporting our operational needs, their collaboration allows us to deliver an exceptional experience for runners, volunteers, and spectators alike.”

Echoing this sentiment, Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon powered by BYD, highlights the City’s ongoing support: “We are incredibly grateful for the City of Cape Town’s ongoing support. Their commitment not only helps us host a seamless event but also showcases Cape Town as a city that embraces sport, tourism, and local participation on a global stage.”

Beyond logistics, the City’s ongoing partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting health, tourism, and community engagement, helping the Two Oceans Marathon remain one of the most celebrated endurance events in the world.

“The City of Cape Town looks forward to welcoming the thousands of Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon runners to the Mother City, where every hill climb is rewarded with breathtaking views of our iconic landscapes. This event is not only a celebration of world-class sport but also an opportunity to showcase our vibrant communities, rich cultural heritage, and the natural beauty that makes Cape Town a global destination,” says Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith.

“We are proud to open our roads to athletes of all levels, giving them the platform to truly Run Cape Town and experience the city in a unique and unforgettable way. The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon continues to promote active lifestyles while also contributing meaningfully to our local economy through increased tourism and business activity.
