  • I heard the Birds Cafe in Bree street has new owners. Can anyone verify that? #
  • So according to @CathyMarston & @whatsoneatery, Leigh Trout, ex Mont Rochelle, has taken over Birds Cafe. #
  • And in further restaurant news, I believe that the ex Sandbar owner is now handling breakfast & lunch at the Grand in Camps Bay. #
  • Wow, that does sound good. @whatsoneatery: @RelaxWithDax we are hosting Graham Beck Premium range 5 course pairing 1/9 #
  • That’s good to hear RT @clairescotland: @RelaxWithDax the new Sunbird Bistro in Camps Bay is delicious, great service & very affordable. #

  • Thanks for the info RT @KEENWA_quinoa: @RelaxWithDax it’s called the sandbar at the grand. same menu, same staff, different view. #

  • Tomorrow night is the tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild auction at the ICC. This is one of the better wine events http://bit.ly/oUG9TC #
  • Last night we tasted Black Pearl wines at &Union. The shiraz was my favourite, and good value at R85 http://bit.ly/nCsMB9 #
  • Listening to them talk about the Symphonic Rocks event on the radio. Sounds like it will be awesome, must get tickets. #
  • Settling in at the La Mouette Spanish evening. The wines are L’Avenir which I am happy about as I remember enjoying their pinotage before. #
  • I enjoyed dinner at La Mouette last night, some very tasty dishes. Also met @elanlohmann and had an interesting chat about group buying. #
  • Looking forward to the Cape Winemakers Guild tasting a bit later. Tickets are available at the door if you want to join http://bit.ly/oUG9TC #

  • Our next (last) stop is Avondale (for innovative wine tourism), the coolest spitoons by far! #GWCGN http://t.co/85iL7jJ #
  • The most interesting wine at Avondale was the Camissa rosé, an unusual blend of muscat & mourvedre. But, like the others, expensive (R122). #
  • Al fresco lunch at Forties wasn’t too bad. The experience was made more by the pleasant weather than the food. Service was friendly. #

  • Postnet sucks. I don’t know if they all suck, but I know the one in Seapoint sucks big time. #
