Vote for nature, vote for Table Mountain

16 September 2011 by CapeTownNewsReader

Table Mountain is one of 28 natural attractions on the New7Wonders of Nature shortlist, which will be announced on November 11, 2011. Table Mountain deserves this recognition, but needs your help in order to achieve it. These New7Wonders of Nature will be selected purely on public votes, which is where you come in.

What makes Table Mountain so spectacular?

The city of Cape Town was constructed around Table Mountain and to this day, the latter remains an unspoiled beauty, providing amazing views for residents and visitors, as well as a range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts.

There are more species of plants on Table Mountain than there are in the entire United Kingdom, while a variety of wildlife, such as dassies and birds, add to its natural offering.
The Table Mountain Cableway, which was established in 1929, has taken more than 20-million visitors to the top of the Mountain, while millions more have used one of the Mountain’s many hiking routes to climb to the summit.

There are only 56 days to go before the new 7 Wonders of Nature are announced, and Table Mountain could be one of them! Being included in this elite grouping would boost Cape Town’s profile to tourists and investors and help create jobs.

Vote for Table Mountain online, via MXit or via SMS as often as possible. SMS “Table” to 34874. Each SMS costs R2.

The New7Wonders will be announced on November 11, 2011.
