The Western Cape Minister for Social Development, Sharna Fernandez, remains committed to supporting thousands of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) that reach out to the Western Cape Department of Social Development (DSD) through its various support offerings, including its NPO help-desk.
During the 2021/22 financial year, 2722 NGOs – which is just over 10% of all registered NGOs in the Western Cape, received some form of support from the provincial DSD’s NPO Help-desk.
The support provided by the Department includes, amongst others;
- Information on the Department’s funding criteria, statutory requirements, changing policy priorities and transformation agenda;
- Through the provincial NPO Help Desk, organisations are assisted with new registrations, compliance assistance and updating of organisational details as well NPO certificate distribution.
- A mentoring programme for organisations requiring an intense capacity building intervention for at-risk organisations needing to improve their functionality and capabilities.
- A reliable, up-to-date database of all funded NPO’s which deliver services within the Department’s service delivery sphere;
As a Department committed to working FOR YOU, we want to ensure that poor communities have access to services from organisations that understand their needs and can best assist in meeting them.
