WC maintains lowest expanded unemployment rate in SA

30 October 2019 by Con Tributor

The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape has welcomed the Quarterly Labour Force Survey released yesterday by Statistics South Africa. The Western Cape remains the province with the lowest Expanded Unemployment Rate at 24,5% compared to the national average of 38,5%. This means that the Western Cape’s Expanded Unemployment Rate is a full 14 percentage points lower than the national average.

Deidre Baartman, MPP says: “This is a clear indication of sound governance and a commitment to ensure economic growth by the DA-led Western Cape government, an initiative which continues to bring change to grow the provincial economy to create jobs that will assist people to put food on the table.”

The Western Cape continues to provide for the people in the province with the best possible opportunities to get a job and build a better life for themselves. Many South Africans struggle daily to provide for their families, and a key to changing the cycle of poverty in our country is ensuring that people have access to a job.

The DA Western Cape continues working hard to bring more investment and create more jobs in the Western Cape so that we can address poverty and unemployment and put a greater dent in the number of people who are still without work.
