It is now EVEN EASIER to republish any article on MyPR to YOUR web site. At the top of every article is a BIG FAT button that says; “Republish this Story” – click on it and get a text box with the HTML required to copy and paste into your WordPress or other instance to quickly and easily republish.
After clicking the button, click on the ‘Copy to Clipboard’ button and then paste the copied code into a New Article in your CMS Admin. Hint: paste the copied code into the ‘text’ option of your CMS and not the WYSIWYG tab of your CMS!
For a year or so now we have been keeping our eyes peeled for a WordPress plugin that would allow us to share the content published on MyPR in an easy and elegant manner. This after seeing similar facilities on sites such as GroundUp and The Daily Maverick. If you would like to deploy a similar instance allowing other to republish your content then do read on and have a gander at the video further down.
If you are using WordPress as your CMS (Content Management System) then do the following:
- Search for the Republication Tracker Tool in your plugin repository and install
- Go to Settings –> Reading –> Republication Tracker Tool Settings (a the bottom) and adjust as necessary
- The plugin ONLY works in a Widgetised area so you will need to place it in a Widget
If your content is FULL WIDTH with no sidebar then you may place the Widget in your Header, Footer or After Entry Widget areas (if available)
If you want the ‘Republish Article’ widget to be IN the body of your article then you will need to install another plugin avaiable from INN (The Institute for Nonprofit News) called Super Cool Ad Inserter Plugin.
After Installing the Super Cool Ad Inserter:
- In your WP Admin go to Settings –> Ad Inserter to set up your preferences
- Then go to your Widget area to drag and drop the Republication Tracker Tool into your desired widget position.
Both the above plugins are from INN – The Institute for Nonprofit News.
The republish plugin can be sparingly tweaked and allows for easy Google Analytics tracking of all republish activity PER article (assuming that your tracking pixel is NOT removed from the HTML code provided).
