On arrival on the scene it was found bystander CPR efforts were in progress on an 8 year old male child that had been recovered from the pool unresponsive, we believe recovered by local bystander Good Samaritans.
Extensive advanced life support CPR efforts were continued but after all efforts to resuscitate the child were exhausted sadly the child was declared deceased by paramedics.
The child had reportedly been playing in and around the pool, visiting at Camps Bay tidal pool with family, believed to be from Somalia, living in Cape Town, when it appears he had been discovered in the pool unresponsive and he was recovered from the pool where bystander CPR was commenced and the alarm was raised.
The body of the child has been taken into the care of Government Health Forensic Pathology Service.
Police have opened an Inquest docket.
The family are in the care of Police.
Condolences are conveyed to the family of the deceased child.
