Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town Road Maintenance

6 October 2026 by Con Tributor

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents and all road users of roadworks in Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town, which will commence this week, by 9 October 2026, if all goes according to plan. The work in Simon’s Town will entail both road resurfacing and road remarking. In Fish Hoek, road marking work will take place along Fish Hoek Main Road

‘Residents, businesses and road users in the Simon’s Town and Fish Hoek area can expect some noise and temporary traffic disruptions while the work is under way. Motorists are requested to approach the work areas with caution. We thank you for your patience and cooperation while these maintenance works are under way. This work forms part of the City’s ongoing road maintenance programme to providing a smoother and safer travelling surface for residents, all part of how we keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Simon’s Town:

  • Resurfacing work will take place along Simon’s Town Main Road from the City of Cape Town Municipal Boundary to Valley Road in Murdock Valley.
  • The work will cover approximately 1,2 km and is planned to take place up until 11 December 2026, between 08:00 and 18:00, Monday to Saturday.
  • To accommodate the construction work, temporary shoulder closures will take place during the day between 07:30 and 18:00, Monday to Saturday.
  • Residents can expect temporary lane closures during the last three weeks of the project between 09:00 and 17:00, Monday to Saturday. Traffic will however be accommodated through the work area, as inbound and outbound lanes won’t be worked on simultaneously.
  • Road marking work will also take place along Simon’s Town Main Road from Fish Hoek Main Road to Court Road, as well as along St Georges Street from Court Road to Flora Steps. The work is planned to take place until Thursday, 26 November 2026, between 07:30 and 18:00, Monday to Saturday.

Fish Hoek:

  • Road marking work will take place along Fish Hoek Main Road from Kommetjie Main Road to the bridge over the Silvermine Stream, as well as along Kommetjie Main Road from the bend near Sun Valley, opposite Harrington Road, and from 16th Avenue to Fish Hoek Main Road.
  • This work is planned to take place until Thursday, 26 November 2026, between 07:30 and 18:00, Monday to Saturday.
