Johnnie Walker Teams Up With The Iconic Vogue Nights In Cape Town In Support Of South African Queer Culture.

2 December 2021 by Con Tributor

Cape Town, South Africa, 30 November – Johnnie Walker hosted the second instalment of its pride brunch on Saturday, 27 November, in the city of Cape Town to celebrate the iconic liberation and celebration of queer nightlife culture without boundaries – Vogue Nights at the iconic “Hearty” venue in 380 Albert Road in Woodstock.

Through identifying and championing trailblazers and catalysts of change in the queer and LGBTQIA+ community, the number one whiskey brand aims to promote a boldly and proudly queer culture in South Africa. The Johnnie Walker pride brunch was attended by some of Cape Town’s well-known personalities, from celebrity stylist and model – Luke Diva, to the fashion-forward extraordinaire and digital creator, Lelo Meslani; and proud Cape Town baby and beauty specialist, Kurt Anders, to name a few.

“By putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything the Johnnie Walker brand does, we are moving one step closer to breaking any and all existing stereotypes, this partnership is another bold step in the right direction for the brand,” says Sandisilwe Gamede, Johnnie Walker SA Brand Manager.

“This event for us represents a turning point in not only our brand story but the collective progress we are making as a country. For us at Johnnie Walker, taking bold steps and making iconic strides is engrained in our DNA, however, doing it alone is never enough. Seeing so many unapologetic tastemakers and pioneers come together to help support this initiative and celebrate pride month with us speaks volumes and represents the kind of change as well as inclusivity we wish to see take place across our diverse cultures in South Africa.”
