For the next couple of months Strongbow (a bitter-sweet apple ale blended with 50 different varieties of culinary apples) will be searching for and showcasing the hottest SA talent right on your doorstep. Not only is Strongbow bringing these bold events to your city, but it is also helping new DJs fast track their music careers by putting them in the limelight.
Up and coming DJs are encouraged to enter an original mix which will be entered into a radio DJ battle in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The battle will take place on the regional radio stations, to find the ultimate DJs in the three regions. Five finalists will be selected and their original mixes will be played live over the air waves, where listeners can vote in and select their favourite four finalists. These finalists will then be paired off and will battle it out head on at two separate Strongbow Do You Know events. The ultimate winner of the battle will walk away with the street cred of having played alongside some of SA’s own DJ heavy weights, as well as R 5000 in cash. In Cape Town on Sunday the 18th of December, catch DJ Bongz, DJ Chynaman and Ready D spinning the decks at Chippas in Paarl. On Tuesday the 20th of December all you DJ Tira fans can catch him mixing it up at Amadoda in Woodstock. The Strongbow Do You Know events will also be Kwa-Zulu Natal at the end of December. Join DJ Cleo ripping up the floor at Lacoste Lounge on Wednesday the 28th of December.

Strongbow is named after the Anglo-Norman knight Richard de Clare, later Earl of Pembroke. He was called “Strongbow” because during his wars in Ireland he relied heavily on Welsh archers. The native Irish on the other hand had few bows and relied on javelins.
