OMODA & JAECOO Extends Q3 Growth Streak as South African Sales Pass 30,000

2 November 2026 by CapeTownNewsReader
  • Q3 2026 sales reached 4,310 units, up 24.4% year-on-year and more than triple Q3 2024 volumes.
  • OMODA & JAECOO has now surpassed 30,000 cumulative South African sales, with 31,990 units sold by the end of September 2026.
  • September was the group’s best sales month yet at 1,503 units, with record monthly sales for the OMODA C5 (936) and JAECOO J5 (410).

OMODA & JAECOO registered a third consecutive year of Q3 sales growth in South Africa, maintaining positive momentum as total local sales surpassed 30,000 vehicles.

The brand delivered 4,310 vehicles in Q3 2026, marking a 24.4% increase over the 3,464 units sold in Q3 2025. Compared to the 1,392 units recorded in Q3 2024, quarterly volumes have more than tripled over two years.

This growth aligns with the ongoing expansion of Brand OJ’s local lineup, introducing new models and diverse powertrain options across several key market segments.

Cumulative OMODA & JAECOO sales in South Africa reached 31,990 units by the end of September 2026. With 12,630 units sold in the first nine months of the year, year-to-date sales have already eclipsed the 12,592 vehicles delivered throughout 2025.

“What stands out for us is the consistency of the growth we’re seeing. To have increased our third-quarter sales for three consecutive years, while also passing 30,000 cumulative sales in South Africa, shows that we are continuing to build real momentum in the market,” said Shannon Gahagan, Head of Brand and Marketing for OMODA & JAECOO and iCAUR South Africa.

“September’s record result, together with new highs for both the C5 and J5, also shows the value of continuing to expand our product offering and giving South African customers more choice across our two brands.”

September closed the quarter with the group’s highest monthly sales total to date, reaching 1,503 units. Two key models set new monthly benchmarks: the C5 delivered 936 units, while the J5 reached 410 units, representing record monthly results for both badges.

The C5 continues to anchor the lineup in South Africa. By the end of September, cumulative C5 sales reached 21,293 units, accounting for 66.6% of total group sales since launch.

The brand’s sales mix is diversifying alongside its portfolio. Recent additions like the C7 and J5 have expanded market coverage, while hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric options cater to growing demand for alternative powertrains. In September, NEV penetration reached 21%, with the newly launched C5 SHS and J5 SHS models gaining good traction.

Electrified vehicles accounted for 2,081 deliveries across the first nine months of 2026, spanning hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric models.

Although month-to-month volumes fluctuated during 2026, the three-year Q3 comparison highlights steady underlying progress, with third-quarter sales expanding from 1,392 units in 2024 to 3,464 in 2025 and 4,310 in 2026.

Die Burger and the Rise of Afrikaans Media: First published in July 1915 under the Dutch title De Burger, Die Burger was established by a group of prominent Afrikaner figures and published by Naspers (then De Nasionale Pers). With its original editor D.F. Malan—who later became Prime Minister of South Africa—the paper played a central political role in the 20th century. It transitioned to Afrikaans in the early 1920s and grew to become the largest Afrikaans daily in the country. Today, it remains a dominant media voice in the Western Cape.
