The Overberg Region will once again host South Africa’s premier 3-Day Stage Trail Run, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN that will take place at the Houw Hoek Hotel from Saturday 19 – Monday 21 March 2022, but before then the region will also welcome the debut of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 1-Day XPERIENCE that is guaranteed to take the picturesque Paul Cluver Wines by storm on Saturday 18 September 2021.
“Our flagship event, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race will celebrate its 12th anniversary in March 2022. With the exception of one year, the Overberg Region has always been the host region and is affectionately known as the home of South Africa’s premier 3-Day Stage Trail Run,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the event. “With March still being a long way away, we’re excited to introduce yet another THIRSTI AFRICANX event to the region, this time a one-day event, the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 1-Day XPERIENCE will take place at Paul Cluver Wines in September this year. Situated less than an hour’s drive from the Cape Town International Airport, not only is Paul Cluver Wines easily accessible and perfect for Capetonians that would like to enjoy a day out on the trails, it’s also convenient for trail runners that will be travelling from outside of Cape Town.”
“The THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 1-Day XPERIENCE will take the format of an ‘individual entry’ event (not teams of two),” continues Meyer. “Runners can look forward to experiencing some of the Western Cape’s most iconic trails combined with spectacular views, mouth-watering food, a relaxed atmosphere and great vibe. The 1-Day XPERIENCE is the perfect introduction to the AFRICANX TRAILRUN minus the logistics of having to find a team member to run with. To add to the excitement, we are running a special offer. All trail runners that enter the 2022 THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 3-Day Stage Race will receive a complimentary entry into the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN 1-Day XPERIENCE (taking place in September 2021).
