Popular Hermanus Christmas market celebrates fifth anniversary

The Gift Market has been entertaining visitors and providing the Hermanus community with an array of unique and talented vendors for five years.

The market, which is taking place from December 16 to 23 at Curro Hermanus Independent School, is a unique annual shopping experience held during the peak of summer.

It will be open daily from 9am to 6pm but until 5pm on the 23rd.

There will be something for everyone – toys and child accessories, gadgets for dad, beautifully made home decor, jewellery and fashion pieces, and lots more.

“We spotted a gap in the Overberg region five years ago, and The Gift Market was born,” said owner Lizette Conradie.

“A market with a large variety of products, where shoppers can do all their Christmas shopping in a quiet and safe environment, away from the hustle and bustle of malls.”

She said that Curro Hermanus is the perfect venue as it is spacious, sheltered, safe, and offers lots of parking.

“To get to the venue, follow the yellow signs, flags, and banners to the school.”

Conradie added that it is also wheelchair-friendly. Covid-19 protocol will be in place, and card and cash payments will be accepted.

“Pop in for a coffee and a piece of cake and have fun browsing our aisles in search of that perfect gift. Everyone is welcome; there is no entrance fee.

“If you need any help, our friendly floor staff will answer all your questions.”

She added that it is, without a doubt, the perfect place to get all your Christmas shopping from over 110 exhibitors.

“It especially offers Hermanus and surrounding area holidaymakers an opportunity to buy unique gifts in a tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle of shopping malls.

“For us, it’s a great feeling to have all these creatives under one roof every year.”

Conradie added this year, they have a whole team of people involved to ensure everything runs as smooth as silk.

“We have Janet Corado (market manager), Johan Conradie (finance), Roux Wessels (logistics), and Moonstone PR (marketing).”
