R10k for 10kms – Big money Bellville run on Wednesday

27 November 2016 by Alan

MyPR: R10k for 10kms – Big money Bellville run on Wednesday:

The 2016 Metropolitan 10k road race takes place in Bellville this Wednesday 30 November at 18:30 .

In its 23 years, the event, has grown into the one of most popular runs in Cape Town and is certainly among the most lucrative with R10k on offer for both the men’s and women’s winners and some generous spot prizes.

The race starts and finishes at Metropolitan’s Parc du Cap head office in Bellville. Registration is on race day from 17:00 to 18:15 with no pre-entries. R5 from every runner will go towards the much-needed new ICU at the Tygerberg Children’s Hospital.

Metropolitan Head of Brand Llewellyn Allen says the race, which last year attracted 1 500 entrants, has become a landmark for the local running community: “The prize money attracts some really good runners and the general vibe, combined with contributing to a great cause, ensures that anyone not contending for the top spots wants to come back every year.”

The Metropolitan 10k race forms part of the Metropolitan MoJo Series of races which promote running culture and financial wellness and highlight the stories of communities, and individuals within those communities, who run their lives in a successful way.
As well as the Metropolitan 10k, the Mojo Series includes the Slave Route Challenge in Cape Town, the Township to Township race in KZN and the Diepkloof Half Marathon in Gauteng.
