Candy (Jacqueline Bisset) doesn’t know it, but she’s the courier for a communist spy ring. When Skip McCoy (James Brolin) picks her purse, the hunt is on for an envelope and the top-secret microfilm it contains. Filmed in South Africa, this remake of Sam Fuller’s 1953 classic “Pickup on South Street” features Bisset and Brolin on the brink of stardom. Candy was Bisset’s first major role, a year later Brolin would make his debut as Dr. Steve Kiley in “Marcus Welby, M.D.”
