The Top 10 trending South African topics on Twitter are an indication of shifts in the news and chart the topics that are tweeted and re-tweeted the most.
One of the Top 10 topics trending today is the death of Whitney Houston (48) – why are we not surprised?
And in other ‘why are we not surprised news’ it is reported that Whitney’s death broke on Twitter 27 minutes before any mainstream press announcement. Houston’s body was found in her room in the Beverly Hilton hotel on Saturday night – cause of death unknown at this time and authorities have only said “no visible signs of trauma and foul play is not suspected”.
Detracting from the sad news is a race war going on in the comments section of the announcement on Fox News
