CAPE TOWN – Crime prevention initiatives led to the arrest of three suspects for the possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs.
On Sunday night, 29 August 2026, members of Operation Lockdown III followed up information about firearms at a premises in Reenberg Street, Bishop Lavis, and searched the identified premises. During the search they found a 9mm pistol without a serial number with ammunition and a firearm hidden in the house. A 41-year-old female was arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearms, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
In Simon’s Berg Street, the members searched a premises where they found 18 mandrax tablets and arrested a 32-year-old male for the possession of drugs.
Furthermore, the members searched another premises in Assegaai Street, Bonteheuwel, and found 130 mandrax tablets, 57 small packets containing crystal and 20 heroin straws in the house. They arrested a 31-year-old male for the possession of drugs.
Once charged, the suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court for the mentioned charges.
