Musicians work immensely hard to create songs that impact people lives and bring moments of happiness. This takes long nights in studio brainstorming, writing and recording to create the final product that you hear when press play on a song. Many musicians have different ways of getting their creative juices flowing before going into studio to create our favourite songs. There are a lot of different entities that have to be paid for their contribution to a record that make sure that not only that song sounds good, but it is promoted just as good to the public. In the studio space there is the producer who is necessary for the composition of the song, the song writers and mixing engineers.
When it comes to the promotion Public Relations Practitioners are essential in getting the record to the intended target audience through an artist’s audience and the media for a larger audience. The musician themselves have to the go on interviews and performances with their DJ who is responsible for curating songs for performances. Personal assistants for daily activities which are completed by the artist and anything they may need on the go. Lawyers who are responsible for the legal side of music from negotiating deals on behalf of their clients.
Knowing this you would understand why musicians have to get paid and have different streams of income in order to have a stable and successful career. Primary source of income for artists is generated through royalties from their songs and distributed to song writers, composers and publishers.
The most obvious source of income for artists is live performances which generates the most income which can come fans paying to attend events there are booked at or hosting a tour in different cities.
Their social media engagement which leads to collaboration with brands through campaigns by promoting products to their target audience either on social media or campaign events. Musicians create merchandise such as clothing for fans to further connect with them and also acts as another source of revenue.
There is a lot that goes into being a musician and can take a long time to burst onto the scene. Which makes it even more worth it with all the perks that come form it not just the fame and the money but the relationships that comes from music and the lives impacted.
