Rooigoud Fishing vessel assisted

11 August 2016 by Alan

At 07h35, Wednesday, 10th August, NSRI Simonstown duty crew launched the Sea Rescue craft Spirit of Safmarine III and Spirit of Surfski II carrying water extrication pumps following a request for assistance from the fishing vessel Rooigoud reporting to be taking water at the Rocky Banks area, deep-sea off-shore of Cape Point.

NSRI Kommetjie responded through the morning traffic to deliver additional water extrication pumps to NSRI Simonstown prior to their launching.

On arrival on the scene the fishing vessel crew were managing to stem the water ingress and they were underway towards Kalk Bay harbour and NSRI Simonstown escorted them to Kalk Bay harbour without incident and once safely berthed they required no further assistance.

The operation was completed at 10h39.
